The Real Standard Primary and Boarding School was started in 2004 for children in a neighborhood whose parents couldn't afford to pay typically high boarding school fees. Unfortunately the buildings are in very bad shape and facilities in need of reconstruction. Most of the 500 pupils are commonly ill because of unsanitary conditions which the school cannot afford to change.

Concerned about the health of these kids, we took on the challenge of remodelling the dormitories in which boarded students stay. There were 10 students sleeping on the floor, and most others doubled up in beds. Sam Nghada, a Medical Practitioner working with us, began to hold weekly classes on hygiene for the students and started a weekly cleaning program.
During the last school holiday, we painted all the dormitory rooms, had them fumigated, and added 7 new triple-bunk beds and 21 mattresses as well as mosquito nets for all 14 beds in the school. This will help keep many of the students from becoming ill and reduce on instances of malaria. Many of the beds, mattresses, and mosquito nets were donated by private donors in the U.S. This was as much as we could do with our limited budget, but we are hoping another NGO will help them remodel the classrooms, and provide a sufficient clean water supply.
