Maendeleo Foundation's Mobile Solar Computer Center allows us to take computers to students (both young and old) in places that don't have the infrastructure to support computers.

The vehicle, a modified Toyota RAV4, took a month to put together and has 3 solar panels on the roof that operate 5 computers in a waterproof 3m x 3m tent.

Our training software ( see below ) gives students an introduction to computers.

We have donated two solar computer labs which we installed near the town of Mbarara in West Uganda:

Our first computer lab, at Kisyoro Secondary School (high school) was a donation to the Millennium Villages Project (millenniumvillages.org). This installation has enough solar generated power for at least two more computers to be donated (at $600 each).

Just up the road from Kisyoro, at Iryango Primary School (elementary), we have installed another computer lab. Most of the children going to this school end up at Kisyoro Secondary School, so they can continue their computer studies as they continue their education.

We have designed and developed (and will continue to add features) simple computer skills training software to help introduce computers to kids and adults using easy games. It is written on the .NET 2.0 platform and will soon be available for download for free for use in educational environments. Please contact us if you'd like an early version of the software. It is written to be multilingual using Unicode fonts, so will work in any language and there is a tool available for those who need to translate the game text into their language.

*The Millennium Villages Project (millenniumvillages.org) is run by the United Nations Development Project (www.undp.org) and based on an economic plan conceived by Dr. Jeffrey Sachs (Author, The End of Poverty).

We have donated two powerful Pentium IV computers and software to the Liberty Training and Education Centre in Kasese, near the Republic of Congo border and others to Information Technology students.
